Timeline

2010

What would become Inspire Brands Asia began with a single step. In 2010, Group CEO Luke Guanlao entered the fitness industry with his first Anytime Fitness franchise in Australia. What started as one club quickly became ground for a disciplined, scalable approach to fitness franchising.

2014

While Luke expanded in Australia, Johannes Raadsma was laying the foundation in Southeast Asia. In 2014, he took on the role of submaster franchisee for Anytime Fitness in the Philippines, growing the network to nearly 150 gyms in under five years and establishing a dominant national footprint.

2016

In 2016, Luke brought his expertise to the Philippines, opening his first club in the market. Within three years, he became the country’s largest Anytime Fitness franchise owner and a leading managed services operator in Asia. Expansion soon followed into Malaysia, where he doubled territory growth in less than a year—demonstrating the strength and scalability of the model.

2020

By 2019, the combined portfolios of Luke and Johannes represented nearly a third of Anytime Fitness locations across Asia. This momentum led to the formation of Inspire Brands Asia in 2020, backed by Exacta Capital Partners and Aura Group. The partnership unified franchise ownership and managed services into a single, integrated regional platform.

2023

In 2023, Inspire Brands Asia entered a new phase of scale and recognition. The network surpassed 300,000 members across the region while reaching its 350th club milestone. Singapore crossed its 100th club, reinforcing its position as a key growth market.

That same year, the company earned an unprecedented triple crown—recognized as International Franchisor of the Year and Franchisor of the Year by FLAsia, and Franchise of the Year by Beyond Activ—cementing its leadership in fitness franchising across Asia.

2024

In 2024, growth accelerated across both established and emerging markets. The Philippines reached its 150th club, while Malaysia (50th), Indonesia (25th), and Hong Kong (30th) continued to scale with milestone openings.

The year also marked a strategic shift with the launch of corporate-owned clubs in Vietnam, Taiwan, and Thailand—expanding Inspire Brands Asia’s footprint into new high-potential markets.

2025

By 2025, Inspire Brands Asia surpassed 500 clubs across the region, a defining milestone in its growth journey. Core markets continued to deepen, with significant expansion across the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Thailand.

The company also sustained its industry recognition, continuing to earn accolades from leading franchise and fitness bodies across Asia.
